Woodland Services & Management
At HM Tree Services, we help landowners, farms, and sporting estates manage their woodlands for long-term health, timber value, and wildlife.
Whether you’re planning your first thinning or preparing a new site for planting, we offer practical advice and hands-on management to help you get the best results from your trees.
Our Approach
Every woodland is different, and we believe each one deserves proper care — not just quick work and heavy machinery.
Our focus is on sensitive, efficient management that protects retained trees, improves timber quality, and encourages healthy regeneration.
We combine traditional woodland knowledge with modern equipment like our 6-ton Kubota with rotating tree shear, allowing us to work precisely and safely — even in tight or sensitive areas.
The result is cleaner and healthier crop for the future.

Planting and Re - Stocking
We offer a planting or re - stocking service no matter how big or small a site. We deal with everything from placing the order of trees, guards, stakes and everything in-between with our trusted supplier, to putting the trees into the ground.
Thinnings
We know that thinning is essential for the long-term health and value of your woodland - especially first thinnings. It’s essential that the trees left standing are protected from damage during felling and extraction.
Unlike larger contractors, we give every site the care and attention it deserves, helping you maximise the future quality and value of your woodland crop.

Weed Control
Controlling weeds such as bramble, rhododendron, and bracken is absolutely critical to the health of your woodland in its early years, and to maintaining biodiversity in the long term.
We work with sporting estates and farms to cultivate woodlands that allow wildlife to thrive while also promoting valuable timber growth.
Woodland Management & Advisory Services
We offer advice and practical services for woodland owners - from selecting the right stems to retain in a mature hardwood stand, to guidance on preparing and planting a new site.
